BUHAYIN SI RIZAL SA BAWAT KABATAAN

THIRST FOR EDUCATION

Rizal as early as 8 study so much that at his age creates his poem (Sa aking mga Kababata) which gives value to our Mother Tongue. His splendor talents will never spring into his life if he didn’t study it and master it. These qualities should be taken by our youth today instead of the qualities of the modern youth today.
Most of the youth today don’t take education as a special gift/treasure which can use and impart. Looking hundred years ago, there is a man who is eager to find education in every aspect of life. He even go and study abroad because he finds our education here in the Philippines too “antique.” But more than that his thirst for education led for the foundation of Filipino Nationalism also with the help of other Illustrados (Graciano Lopez-Jaena, Gregorio del Pilar etc). This man is a true role model on what education is and what can it do for our country.
Our country has a literacy rate of 97%. Big enough for some countries like Pakistan, India, Iraq, and Indonesia. Literacy rate dictates on how many people can read and write in a specific country. Yes our country has a large number of people who can read and write but as we can see this past few years, more and more youth are dropping from school. Most of their problems are family, financial, underage love life (which led to premarital sex), and bad influence of friends. So sad to say that it greatly affect our country. More youth are forced to work instead of attending their classes. Committing their youth to “someone” instead of committing their youth into education, friends, and family. Only if our country can support these men and women but not because of our present economy.
Only if our youth can get and apply Rizal’s enthusiasm in learning and studying our country will not facing the problems about education. There are still some who pursue to study even if financially burden. Those youth should be praised for their dedication just to get education., “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng Bayan” a statement which Dr. Jose Rizal said before he leave. A statement that our youth should focus for our country’s future depends on them. For the future leaders, engineers, teachers, clerks are them whom our country should be proud of for they are the true key to success. Let’s teach this youngster how to be thirst in education.
